With autumn’s arrival, we seized the chance for a research trip to Athens and the port city of Piraeus, drawn by new prospects and the appeal of late summer’s quieter rhythm. The tourist crowds had faded, leaving the Attica coastline warm and inviting—perfect for a swim after days of exploration. In Athens, we ventured beyond the well-worn paths into historic areas teeming with untapped potential. Meanwhile, in Piraeus, remnants of old factories and industrial sites revealed spaces brimming with possibilities for thoughtful revitalization that respects local character and avoids the erasure often brought by gentrification.
The blend of urban intensity and serene coastal escape struck a harmonious balance, refreshing and grounding us each day. Athens and Piraeus felt like cities at a crossroads, where the past and present coexist with creative potential. Our time there was an inspiring dive into urban discovery, leaving us with fresh insights, ambitious ideas, and a growing bond with a place we’re eager to revisit. Athens and Piraeus—steeped in history, culture, and ripe with opportunity—have left a lasting mark on us.
